I/A Series Application Interface Software (IAS) provides an applicationprogram interface (API) resident in a host SPARC-system computer.Computer application programs use AIS to gain access to realtime processcontrol data and I/A Series system data files.AIS subroutines work in conjunction with one or more I/A SeriesInformation Network Interface (INI) modules. These modules are residentin the I/A Series industrial control system. INI modules supply realtimeprocess control data, file transfer, and virtual terminal services tocomputer application programs through AIS. Computer application programsand third-party specialty software use realtime process control and otherI/A Series file data to accomplish many goals. Such goals may includedata acquisition, statistical analysis, quality control, reporting,inventory control, and other industrial manufacturing applications.
